Persian Gulf Islands; Embrace The Sunny Winter

The islands of the Persian Gulf are among the best natural attractions in Iran with pleasant winter weather.

Of course, the first suggestion for those who draw a line around cold weather and like to enjoy the sun in winter are these destinations.  The most well-known islands in the southern part of Iran are  Kish, Qeshm, and Hormuz.

The weather in Kish, Qeshm, and Hormuz is very hot in summer. But if you visit them in autumn and especially in winter, you will have the opportunity to make one of the best trips of your life.

Stars valley in Qeshm, seeing the lively dolphins in Kish, and the natural attractive landscapes of Hormuz island will make your winter sunny and peaceful. Besides, without exaggeration, the people of southern Iran are very hospitable. Also, visiting the local markets of these islands can be an interesting experience as well.

Hengam Island, Astonishing Beaches

One of the most spectacular islands in the azure waters of the Persian Gulf is Hengam island. This magnificent island is located near Qeshm island. So, for convenience, you can rent a suite in Qeshm and then travel to Hengam Island for more adventure.

One of the great attractions of this island in winter is the silver beach, which shines like a starry sky in winter. In fact, in winter, bright phytoplankton’s accumulate at the coast here, which add to its beauty and splendor more than before.

Undoubtedly, one of the most remarkable winter-sun destinations in Iran, which makes it feel like spring is Hengam island. On this island, you will find the heat and rays of the sun and you will be completely safe from the cold and lightning of winter.

And there is always a chance of encountering these intelligent and gorgeous creatures, mostly in the mornings and between October to May.

Mangrove Forests (AKA Hara Forests)

Magical forests, with mangrove trees rooted in the depth of the southern sea, can be one of your winter-sun destinations in Iran. Such a wonderful sight that is very enjoyable to visit in the winter. So, these spectacular and mysterious forests, which of course are of great importance for natural ecosystems, exist both in Hormozgan province, around Qeshm Island. And also in the vast and attractive province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Mangrove forests are consisting of tall, stout trees that have roots deep in the water and occasionally protrude from the water. These large trees can convert saline seawater into freshwater. It may also be interesting to note that many migratory birds from all over the world take refuge in these fabulous forests, especially in winter.

Chabahar; The Most Delightful Beaches in Winter

Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan Province is the southernmost city of Iran. Chabahar in Farsi means 4-spring which indicates has pleasant weather in four seasons of the year.

Walking at night on the shores of Chabahar and watching the brilliant phytoplanktons in the darkness of winter and autumn nights is one of the most amazing activities. Glowing colored Phytoplanktons inside seawater at the beach can be seen in the dark of night during the cold seasons of the year. An extremely memorable and attractive view created by wonderous nature.   

In Addition,  large rocks that have formed with the advancement of water and erosion are also among the sights of this city.

The miniature mountains, also known as the martian mountains, are located near Chabahar and are shaped like the surface of Mars due to erosion.

Cities of Khuzestan; Relics of Oldest Persian Civilization

Good weather in autumn and winter are the characteristics of cities in Khuzestan province in southern Iran. To see the first signs of Iranian civilization, you can visit sunny Khuzestan. Its historical attractions have made it one of the unique winter-sun destinations of Iran land.

Indeed, the archeological sights in cities like Shush, Dezful, and Shushtar are enough to attract those interested in history and civilization. In addition, the large rivers of Khuzestan that cross the delta have helped to create favorable conditions for agriculture. When you’re at Khuzestan, keep in mind visiting these places:

Shushtar historical hydraulic system; Hafttapeh; Dezful old bridge; Band-e Kaisar; Karkheh and Karun rivers. And the last but not least, the ChoghaZanbil Ziggurat in the ancient city of Shush.

Ancient Shush & ChoghaZanbil Ziggurat

One of the most convenient winter-sun destinations on your trip to Iran can be visiting historical sites in the south. Mostly, places such as ChoghaZanbil Ziggurat (a kind of temple) are located in Shush in Khuzestan province.  Because in other months of the year this area is very hot. So hot that sometimes its temperature reaches above 50 degrees Celsius. Instead, the weather is relatively mild in winter. And visiting the unique historical sites here, the amazing buildings with several thousand years old are highly recommended.

Ziggurat dating back to 3,300 years located 15 km from the city of Shush is the favorite of history lovers. In fact, this is a religious tomb built by the Elamites (dynasty area)  around 1250 BC. At that time, the king of ancient Elam built ChoghaZanbil Ziggurat in the middle of the city and at the highest point to be a place of praise to God.

Palace of Darius (a winter capital of the Persian Empire at the time), Acropolis hill, Shavoor’s palace, and the tomb of Daniel are other fascinating historic monuments, which are perfect for sightseeing in winter.

Finally, it can be said that some of the most valuable historical structures in the world are located here. Places that have a long history and are the remnants of the rich civilization of Persia, one of the largest ancient empires in the world.

Kerman; Desert Land with Starry Sky

Kerman, located in the desert region of Iran, is one of the historical-religious attractions of Iran. The city of Kerman is next to the Dasht-e Lut (Lut desert), therefore, has unique nature and gorgeous starry nights.

The desert climate has made Kerman a great destination for a winter trip. A peaceful stay accompanied by a clear blue sky in days and a desert sky, filled with flashing stars.

Among the attractions of Kerman, we can mention the Ganjali Khan complex (mosque, bazaar, bath, caravanserai, etc.) Meymand village, the historic city of Bam, Shah Nematollah Vali Shrine, and the Shahzadeh Mahan historical garden.
